No more paved pits and no more fancy garages.
Seemed to work back in the day.

Last summer I visited the pits on a demolition derby, looked kind of like this, except more hammering and welding.
The best thing was a car with 2 rails under the hood that had holes in it. Those holes where marked: 205, golf, fiesta... so you could throw in whatever engine you had lying around.

Things will never be the same unfortunately.

True but one can dream.

Hmm that’s something I’ve never done at a derby. Good idea I’m usually too busy getting drunk at those types of events.

How about: No huge support vans either. The only spares you can bring are the ones you can strap to the race car.

I was googling for more old pit action pictures and noticed that “f1 pit 70's” will give you a lot of scantily clad ladies. Here’s one nice picture (without ladies). I’ll remember this trick when I have my own historic formula.

OR you could allow the cars to be more than slightly different and not immediately ban any sort of innovation.

But that would make sense.

Could you imagine the chaos if the engine somehow started?

Is that the fuel tank up front? Seems safe.

I could be an oil tank too. The fuel tank might be hidden under the seat. Hard to say.

You’d get a lot more rally wagons. Not that that’s a bad thing, my friend has an AWD Caldina wagon that’s pretty much exactly the same size as a Celica and fits all the same drivetrain. Put a cage in for the front two seats, stack the whole back end with parts. Put on a full length roof tray and you get another 2 and a bit metres of storage space, keep the factory towbar and you can take whatever you can fit on a trailer (tow vehicle if you kill the car?)... I’ve thought this through far too much.

Or on the sides of the driver. Better for weight distribution and for driver cooking.

Remember the 2000s? Remember anyone other than The Michael winning?
